The chapter list on this page is still real: it was read from /var/task/data/syllabus/class10.json on this machine, which ships with the repo. Asking questions and taking quizzes need the API, so those are unavailable until it is running.

Ask about this chapter

Answers are built only from the passages retrieved from the ingested copy of your book for this chapter. If they do not cover your question, samjho says so instead of guessing.

Press Enter to ask. The question is sent to the samjho API with this chapter's context; it is not sent anywhere else.

Questions this chapter's sections suggest

Concept animations for this chapter

Interactive explanations, drawn in the page — no video, no external scripts. Each one is keyboard operable, has a “what to notice” caption, and a “try this” prompt that changes what it shows.

Types of chemical reactions: balance the equation and watch the atom count

conceptId: reaction-types

Mg(s) + O2(g) → MgO(s)
magnesium1oxygen1magnesium oxide1

What to notice: the two sides disagree on O — atoms are only moved around in a chemical reaction, never made or lost, so the coefficients have to be chosen to even them up.

Try this: pick Water decomposed by electricity and raise the water coefficient to 2 — the hydrogens now match but the oxygens do not until the oxygen molecule also gets a 2. Model note: only atom counts are computed here; reaction rates, energy barriers and the physical states drawn as (s)/(l)/(g)/(aq) labels are given, not simulated.

live count — not balanced: O 2=1, Mg 1=1; totals 3 = 2 atoms
